lecture
Flex integration with Open Fire and Red5.
Openfire is a real time collaboration (RTC) server licensed under
the Open Source GPL. It uses the only widely adopted open protocol for
instant messaging, XMPP (also called Jabber). During the session we will
walk through the features of Open Fire and the integration in Flex using an
open source library (XIFF 3.0.0-beta1) wrapped in a custom connection driver
that suits the typical needs of a real-time application
- join room
- friends / enemies management
- chat messages
- private chat
- ban
- kick
- video streaming (upon red5 plugin)
The purpose of the session is to show again how java software and flex can
play nice together.
