Piotr Walczyszyn

Piotr Walczyszyn is a Platform Evangelist for Adobe Systems responsible for messaging around the Adobe Platform technologies, including Adobbe Flash, Flex, and AIR.

Previously to Adobe, Piotr co-founded biggest social networking portal for lawyers community in Poland that is based on AJAX technologies and follows latest Web 2.0 trends. He also has a strong background in enterprise architectures like JEE and .NET Framework. His broad knowledge of enterprise solutions comes from years of work at ABB Corporate Research Center where he was managing software engineering group responsible for building mission critical manufacturing execution systems.

Piotr received his Masters degree at Polish?Japanese Institute of Information Technology in the faculty of Databases and Server Side Programming. X?icco an Open Source "XML Database Engine for Mobile Devices" was his Masters thesis project. It was also his first but not last close contact and participation in Open Source community. He also studied management and marketing at Leon Kozminski Academy of Entrepreneurship and Management.

Piotr was born in Warsaw/Poland but currently shares leaving location between Warsaw and Cracow. He spends his free time with family and friends, but also enjoys mountain baking, windsurfing and snowboarding.

One web. Any device. – Building mobile applications with Flash Platform tools.

During this session attendees will learn how to start building mobile applications using Flash Platform tools. As an example both iPhone and Android platforms will be covered. New features and API’s will be discussed like: multi-touch, geolocation or accelerometer.



Building browser and desktop RIA's with Flex 4 and AIR 2.0

Training attendees will learn step by step how to build rich internet applications targeting browser and desktop environments with Flex 4 and AIR 2.0. Scope of the course will range from visual design of the application to integration with Java back-end. Following topics will be covered:

  • UI design and interaction design with Flash Catalyst CS5
  • Flex 4.0 and ActionScript 3 deep dive with Flash Builder 4.0
  • Targeting browser and desktop applications with conditional compilation
  • Java back-end remoting and messaging with BlazeDS an open source Java/Flex adapter
  • Local storage with SQLite database
  • Running native processes with AIR 2.0 NativeProcess API



The perfect marRIAge: Flex front-end with Java back-end

During this session attendees will learn how to start building Rich Internet Applications using Flex 4 as front-end technology and Java as the back-end. BlazeDS an open source JEE adapter will be explained in details with its capabilities of handling remoting calls and subscription to JMS queues from Flex applications. Flex 4 will be covered with intro to building both web and desktop applications.
